Reverse Harems

Updated: Aug 16, 2021

There are many great reverse harem anime! If you prefer dark and sultry or light and comedic, there is definitely a reverse harem for all tastes. What kind of girl doesn’t likes being the center of attention surrounded by wonderful young men? If you are simply someone trying to look for something exciting or new, reverse harem anime are a must-see! There is a little bit of eye candy for everyone 😉

Sengoku Night Blood

  • Genres: Historical, Romance, Fantasy

  • 1 Season, 12 Episodes, 1 Special

One day, Yuzuki is enveloped by a mysterious light suddenly emanating from her cell phone and finds herself in an unfamiliar place. The scenery spread out before her almost resembles Sengoku period Japan-- But this is another world known as "Shinga" where non-human creatures such as vampires and werewolves reside. Will Yuzuki be able to return to her world?

This anime is based on an otome game. The story and characters are pulled from straight from the game. This is a hit or miss anime for most people. The story is okay and a little confusing but damn those characters were so good looking. There's basically no complexity to the story, no depth, and the animation of the fight scenes could have been better. On the other hand, the actual art is pretty decent. I’m not going to lie to you…only reason I watched this anime was for the eye candy. If you want to watch exceedingly pretty men for 12 episodes, this will give you that fix.

Meiji Tokyo Renka

  • Genres: Romance, Reverse Harem, Historical, Supernatural, Shoujo

  • 1 Season, 12 Episodes, 2 Movies

Mei Ayazuki is just your ordinary, everyday high-school girl. That is until one night, when the moon is full and red, she’s transported through time to the Meiji Period by Charlie, a self-proclaimed magician. Will Mei be able to return to her own time?

This is anime based on an Otome video game for cells. When creating an anime based on a video game it can be a hit or miss. This is anime you will either love or hate. I personally enjoy this anime. The story is simple but compelling. This anime is very cute, and all the characters have great development throughout series. I based this review off how much I enjoyed the show. Since everyone has their own opinion on animes I’ll let you create your own.

Hakuoki ~Demon of the Fleeting Blossom~

  • Genres: Action, Historical, Supernatural, Drama, Samurai, Josei

  • 2 Seasons, 12 Episodes & 10 Episodes, 3 OVAs, 1 Movie

In 1864 Japan, a young woman named Chizuru Yukimura is searching for her missing father, Koudou. Chizuru disguises herself as a man and heads to Kyoto in search of him. Attracting the attention of ronin, she tries to hide and ends up witnessing a horrifying sight: the ronin being brutally murdered by crazed white-haired men. In a startling turn of events, members of the Shinsengumi arrive to dispatch the creatures. But Chizuru's safety doesn't last long, as this group of men tie her up and take her back to their headquarters, unsure of whether to let her live or silence her permanently.

The story revolves around the Shinsengumi, the late Tokugawa Shogunate secret police. If you like Japanese History, then this anime might be for you. This anime does a great job of combing some historical facts alongside the anime. The characters are all very unique. We see how they all have individualistic characteristics but at times we see them merge into a single personality. This was interesting to see since it is a representation of being under one flag or country. That is what I believe anyways. I will let you know now that this anime has more dialogue/ history then fighting. Overall, this is anime is a fun and unique anime to watch.

Kamisama Kiss

  • Genres: Comedy, Demons, Supernatural, Romance, Fantasy, Shoujo

  • 2 Seasons, 13 Episodes, 1 OVA

High schooler Nanami Momozono has quite a few problems of late, beginning with her absentee father being in such extreme debt that they lose everything. Downtrodden and homeless, she runs into a man being harassed by a dog. She meets the land God and is given the responsibilities as a replacement God. How will Nanami be able to survive as a replacement God?

This is a lighthearted series. The characters are charming and cute. This is anime is like a hole in wall; nothing extravagant but something you like to keep to yourself. This is a great romance comedy anime to watch if you are in the mood of something simple and fun. The anime has a decent story, sadly shortened by the number of episodes. However, this does not spoil the story nor the character development. You won’t regret watching this anime.

Ouran High School Host Club

  • Genres: Comedy, Romance, School Life, Shoujo

  • 1 Season, 26 Episodes

Haruhi Fujioka is a bright scholarship candidate with no rank or title to speak of—a rare species at Ouran Academy, an elite school for students of high pedigree. When she opens the door to Music Room #3 hoping to find a quiet place to study, Haruhi unexpectedly stumbles upon the Host Club. Changing her life forever.

Ouran High School is great introductory anime for family and friends who don’t watch anime. It is funny and fun to watch. The dramatic antics of the characters truly makes the show. One factor that made me love the show was how Haruhi was a strong independent female character. This series also tackled gender norms. The most obvious example is Haruhi and Honey who doesn’t act like your typical boy. This was something you didn’t see all the time in anime in the early 2000s. The characters, despite their flaws, are endearing and incredibly charming. This is an anime you will not be disappointed in watching.

Fruit Baskets

  • Genres: Slice of Life, Comedy, Supernatural, Drama, Romance, Shoujo

  • 1 Season, 26 Episodes, New Anime Adaptation

After the accident in which she lost her mother, 16-year-old Tooru moves in with her grandfather, but due to his home being renovated, is unable to continue living with him. However, the Souma’s carry a secret no one must know. What will happen to Tooru if she discovers this secret?

This one of my favorite animes. I love this anime so much I have a tattoo in honor of it. This anime is the reason I read mangas. The story is a beautiful but cruel story. We follow these amazing character who struggle with their dark past and traumas. You watch these grow and develop as they face their trauma alongside Tooru. Furthermore, the art is gorgeous, and the music complements the series. I hope you love series as much as I do. This is a 10 out of 10!
